The day of My Bloody Valentine’s show happened to coincide with Gay Pride Denver. I left pride – I know my priorities – arrived at the theater four hours before doors opened, and got to meet the band as Kevin (wearing his parka, natch) et al made their way through the front doors.

I was pressed against the front of the stage but I held my ground. A metal curtain hung behind the band, strobe lights pulsing in rhythm. Simple yet genius all at once. The sound washed over the crowd and we were all simultaneously baptized.

I know that I am, by no means, a maniacal fan of MBV. But I am every bit the devotee.
